Look Sports Media – Call of Duty League (CDL) pro Dylan "Envoy" Hannon has unleashed a scathing critique of the CDL’s handling of the upcoming Championship Weekend, accusing organizers of a significant oversight that could drastically impact gameplay. The LA Thieves star’s frustration stems from a glaring discrepancy between the game patch used on official CDL accounts and the version players will be forced to use at the tournament.
Envoy highlighted the critical issue on social media, pointing out that CDL accounts are still running a three-month-old patch, while the Championship Weekend will utilize the Season 3 Reloaded build—a version released over a month ago on May 1st. This leaves players with minimal time to adapt to significant gameplay changes. "CDL accounts on a 3-month-old patch," Envoy tweeted. "Retail accounts are on Season 4, and the CDL insists we’ll play on Season 3.5 for Champs, which is currently unplayable."

He further emphasized the substantial differences between Season 3.5 and Season 4, particularly in the Control game mode, stating that the lack of clear guidelines regarding patch updates in the official rulebook is unacceptable. Adding fuel to the fire, Envoy also cited issues with the caster tool, a recurring problem in past CDL events, as another reason why using the Season 3 Reloaded build is impractical.

While no official statement has been released addressing Envoy’s concerns, the possibility remains that organizers might reconsider their choice of patch for the Championship Weekend, scheduled for June 26th to 29th in Toronto. This year’s event will see sixteen of the world’s best teams battling for the coveted world championship title, with only two emerging from the qualifiers to compete in the grand finals on June 29th. The pressure is on the CDL to resolve this controversy before the tournament begins, ensuring a fair and competitive environment for all participants. The coming days will be crucial to see how the CDL responds to Envoy’s very public and pointed criticism.
