Luminosity in Crisis? Players Allege Unpaid Dues Amidst Acquisition

Look Sports Media – A storm is brewing over Luminosity Gaming following its acquisition by Vertiqal, with allegations of widespread payment issues surfacing online. Creators and players are voicing their concerns, citing missing payments, communication breakdowns, and a perceived lack of support from the new ownership.

The trouble began when a graphic artist publicly claimed to have not received payment for work completed for Luminosity since June 2025. This sparked a wave of similar complaints, with prominent figures like Super Smash Bros. pros Leonardo "MkLeo" Lopez Perez and Carlos "Sonix" Pérez, as well as Apex Legends player Bowen "Monsoon" Fuller, all taking to social media to express their frustration.

Monsoon highlighted the real-world impact of these delays, stating that the missing funds represent "a month of rent," crucial for his ability to continue competing and creating content. He alleges being repeatedly promised payment over four months, only to be met with silence for the past fifteen days.

Adding fuel to the fire, Luminosity is accused of neglecting to promote its creators’ achievements. Content creator Morgan "MODELMORG" Pope recently achieved a third-place finish on Big Brother Season 27, breaking several records during her time on the show. Despite the significant media attention, Luminosity has remained conspicuously silent.

James Fudge of The Esports Advocate reached out to both Vertiqal and Enthusiast Gaming, the former owners, for comment. Vertiqal acknowledged the issues, stating, "The truth of the matter is, we took on a distressed company, which had management issues, and only now are we finding out the full extent of those issues."

Enthusiast Gaming responded with surprise, stating, "This is surprising to see as the new ownership and management has been very public about the strength of the current roster and overall Luminosity brand."

Former Luminosity Gaming CEO Alex Gonzalez also weighed in, expressing his sadness at the situation.

In a surprising turn, Vertiqal CEO Jon Dwyer responded to Gonzalez’s post with a personal attack, criticizing his past performance.

Vertiqal claims to be aware of the missed payments and is working to rectify the situation, citing difficulties accessing Luminosity’s existing bank accounts. They claim to be reaching out to creators individually for new banking information, a claim contradicted by Monsoon’s experience of prolonged silence.

The combination of payment issues, lack of promotional support, and public disputes raises serious questions about the future of Luminosity Gaming under its new ownership. The organization’s ability to deliver on its payment promises and rebuild trust with its creators remains to be seen.
