LEC Civil War? Kameto Accuses Riot of Sneaking in Los Ratones

Look Sports Media – League of Legends drama is erupting within the LEC even before Worlds 2025 concludes, with Karmine Corp owner Kameto making explosive allegations about Riot Games’ plans for the 2026 season. The controversy centers around the reported inclusion of Los Ratones, the team spearheaded by popular streamer Marc "Caedrel" Lamont, in the LEC Winter Split 2026.

While many assumed the LEC’s ten partner teams had consented to this move, Kameto has broken his NDA to claim otherwise. In a fiery Twitch stream, Kameto expressed his frustration, stating that "There wasn’t even a single person who agreed with that idea. They just f*cked us." He alleges that Riot pushed forward with the decision without the approval of the existing LEC teams.

Adding fuel to the fire, the Al Lãto Podcast reported that Riot initially considered an even more radical proposal: a "Royal Rumble" format where LEC and top ERL teams would compete for EMEA’s third Worlds slot, mirroring recent changes in Valorant’s VCT system.

Kameto threatened drastic measures, suggesting KCorp might bootcamp in Korea for the entire Winter Split while fielding their academy team in the LEC. Ibai Llanos Garatea and Movistar KOI are reportedly considering similar actions. He bluntly stated, "Let’s not lie to ourselves, the new format was completely made to let Los Ratones play in LEC."

Despite his anger, Kameto clarified he has no personal issue with Caedrel or Los Ratones, acknowledging they would have accepted the opportunity. He believes the problem lies with Riot’s "bad choices or short-term ones."

The core issue for LEC teams is the perceived devaluation of their franchise slots. Each team has invested millions of Euros for a permanent position in the league. The potential inclusion of Los Ratones without proper consultation or compensation raises concerns about the long-term stability and value of the LEC ecosystem.

Sheep Esports journalist highlighted the financial strain LEC teams have faced, arguing that Riot’s actions undermine the "exclusive asset" they were promised and "irreparably undermining the economic balance of the system." The journalist also pointed out that Caedrel had previously stated, incorrectly, that all LEC teams had agreed to the format change.

Caedrel has defended the proposed format, emphasizing its potential benefits for Tier 2 LoL teams and increased competition within the LEC. He argued that it would give ERL teams a chance to prove themselves against LEC players and expose "frauds" within the league. He also said it would stop some LEC organizations coasting. Caedrel also admitted he knew a "little bit" about the plans to let Los Ratones compete in the LEC for a split.

The controversy raises serious questions about the relationship between Riot Games and its LEC partners, and the future direction of the league.
