FM26 SHOCKS! FIFA World Cup Licensed, EA in Disarray?

Look Sports Media – The football gaming landscape has been irrevocably altered. Sports Interactive, the developers behind the acclaimed Football Manager series, have forged a multi-year partnership with FIFA, commencing with the highly anticipated Football Manager 2026. This seismic shift arrives as EA Sports, reeling from the sunsetting of its FIFA era following the closure of FIFA 23 servers, faces an unexpected challenge to its dominance.

The landmark agreement grants Football Manager 2026 access to the fully licensed FIFA World Cup 2026, a first for the franchise, alongside other exclusive FIFA content. This means players can immerse themselves in the prestigious FIFA World Cup, FIFA Women’s World Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup within the game’s immersive simulation.

A key component of FIFA’s licensing is the inclusion of official kits for all 48 teams participating in the 2026 World Cup within FM26. Furthermore, the game will boast authentic broadcast graphics and tournament branding, enhancing the overall realism and immersion of the World Cup experience.

While the licensing deal doesn’t guarantee full licensing for every team, the inclusion of all participating nations represents a significant advantage over competitors like EA FC 26, which has been criticized for its underwhelming international football representation. Despite rumors of a World Cup mode, EA FC 26 lacks the necessary teams to even replicate the previous 32-team format.

The announcement of the FIFA partnership comes as a surprise, particularly given earlier indications that FM26 would lack international management features. Comments made by Sports Interactive Studio Director Miles Jacobson in a Korean interview suggested the removal of the national team manager mode due to negative feedback and perceived quality issues.

However, Sports Interactive has since clarified that a revamped International Management module will be released as an update in 2026, prior to the World Cup, for FM26, FM26 Console, and FM26 Touch. This reversal has been met with widespread approval from the Football Manager community.

FM26 is scheduled for release on November 2nd, with news regarding a playable beta expected soon. This partnership with FIFA marks a pivotal moment for the Football Manager series, potentially solidifying its position as the premier football management simulation game.
