This reveal has sent shockwaves through the community, sparking intense speculation and excitement for the Nintendo Switch 2 title.
While Pokémon Legends Z-A already boasts a roster of impressive Mega Evolutions, including the previously unveiled Mega Dragonite and Mega Victreebell, some of these powerful transformations are locked behind gameplay milestones, such as ranked online battles, or require purchasing the new DLC.
Mega Zeraora sports a striking visual overhaul. The electric Pokémon sheds some of its signature yellow, adopting a cooler color palette of blue and black. Spikes now adorn its head and hands, and it boasts two tails, amplifying its already formidable presence.

Mega Evolutions are known for their stat boosts, and Mega Zeraora is no exception. With a whopping 100-point increase, it will boast a monstrous Base Stat Total (BST) of 700, making it a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. According to the official Pokémon website, Mega Zeraora will remain a pure Electric-type, focusing its immense power into a single, devastating element.
The official description of Mega Zeraora in the Mega Dimension DLC paints a picture of unleashed potential: "It’s thought that Mega Evolution removes the internal limiter containing the electric energy stored within Zeraora’s body. This allows it to unleash powerful attacks that can take down multiple nearby opponents at once."
This description hints at a Pokémon tailor-made for the free-for-all ranked battles in Pokémon Legends Z-A, where its multi-target attacks could prove devastating.
Acquiring Zeraora, or potentially its Mega Stone, won’t be a walk in the park. While some Mega Evolution forms are tied to ranked battles, Zeraora itself will be available within the DLC’s story. The Pokémon Company has teased a "difficult" encounter, possibly a random encounter requiring quick reflexes and strategic thinking.
The Mega Dimension DLC promises to expand the world of Pokémon Legends Z-A with new story content. Players will venture through portals created by the mischievous Hoopa, leading them to ‘Hyperspace Lumiose City.’ By feeding Hoopa different doughnuts, players will unlock different portals. There, players will encounter Pokémon exceeding level 100.
The DLC will also expand the Pokédex beyond the base game’s 230 Pokémon. The Mega Dimension DLC is slated for release on December 10th, 2025, with a final trailer expected on December 2nd, potentially revealing even more Mega Evolutions. Pre-orders are currently available on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
