This update brings back a fan-favorite map, introduces a fearsome new champion, and shakes up the meta with significant champion adjustments.
The highlight of this patch is undoubtedly the return of Winter Rift, the snow-covered version of Summoner’s Rift, making its comeback after a seven-year hiatus. Players can experience the festive atmosphere in all game modes, accompanied by the classic heartwarming music. To celebrate, Riot is re-releasing every legacy Winter skin, and plans to introduce new Winter skins with the following Patch 25.24.
Patch 25.23 also marks the debut of Zaahen, League of Legends’ 172nd champion. This Darkin warrior enters the fray on November 19th, wielding a unique set of abilities focused on building power through combat and delivering devastating blows. Zaahen’s passive, "Cultivation of War," grants bonus Attack Damage based on stacks of Determination earned by attacking enemy champions. When fully stacked, Zaahen gains even more Attack Damage and the ability to revive. His other abilities include "The Darkin Glaive" (a double slash with bonus damage and healing), "Dreaded Return" (a directional stab that pulls enemies), "Aureate Rush" (a dash with an area-of-effect slice), and "Grim Deliverance" (a powerful downward stab that damages and heals).

Beyond the Winter Rift and Zaahen’s release, Patch 25.23 brings a wave of champion buffs and nerfs, with a particular focus on expanding the jungle champion pool. Champions like Aatrox, Ambessa, Cho’Gath, Jayce, Ornn, Riven, and Sion receive buffs aimed at improving their viability in the jungle. Other champions like Ahri, Jhin, Malphite, Miss Fortune, Skarner, Swain, Tristana, Volibear, Xayah, and Zeri are also receiving buffs.
