Look Sports Media – CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO), the reigning LCP champions, have officially announced the pivotal signing of Lee ‘Pungyeon’ Jong-hyuk, a promising mid-laner previously competing with DN Freecs Challengers. This strategic acquisition appears to complete their main roster, reinstating a full five-player lineup after a tumultuous off-season saw the departure of four key stars.
Pungyeon, known for his impressive laning statistics and competitive experience in the LCK Challengers League and Asia Masters, arrives with the weight of expectation. CFO’s social media channels buzzed with excitement, welcoming the rookie and expressing confidence in his ability to dominate the LCP mid lane, signaling a bold move to inject fresh talent into their championship-winning squad.

The off-season presented a significant challenge for CFO. Their formidable LCP roster was decimated by the exodus of Shen ‘Driver’ Tsung-Hua, Ling ‘Kaiwing’ Kai Wing, and the highly-regarded duo of Tsai ‘HongQ’ Ming-Hong and Yu ‘JunJia’ Chun-Chia, who have since joined JD Gaming. This left the team with only their superstar ADC, Chiu ‘Doggo’ Tzu-Chuan, and top laner Hsu ‘Rest’ Shih-Chieh, who recently recommitted to the organization.

Despite the substantial losses, retaining the enigmatic Doggo provided a crucial foundation for CFO’s ambitious rebuild. The first major piece of the puzzle was secured with the signing of veteran jungler Zhao ‘Shad0w’ Zhi-Qiang. Shad0w’s return to the Pacific region marks his first departure from the LPL since 2021, following a distinguished career that included stints in the LEC and with Bilibili Gaming. His extensive experience and flexible playstyle are expected to be invaluable assets for the new-look CFO.
Following Shad0w, CFO turned their attention to the support role, bringing in Kuo ‘Orca’ Cheng-Han, formerly of Talon Academy. This move was particularly noteworthy given the recent collapse of PSG Talon from the LCP due to significant payment delays. While many speculated that LCP teams would target Talon’s more experienced free agents, CFO opted for Orca, showcasing a distinct recruitment philosophy. The organization even embraced some playful, sea creature-themed wordplay to announce the addition of their ‘Orca’ to the ‘Oysters’.
Historically, CFO has often favored a six-man roster, rotating players like Rest and Driver based on draft strategies. With Pungyeon’s arrival, the team can now field a fully functional five-player lineup, allowing them to commence scrims and begin forging synergy. However, it remains to be seen whether CFO will seek to sign an additional top laner to replicate their previous six-man setup or if they are content with their current configuration. Regardless, the immediate goal is clear: to maintain their iron grip on regional supremacy in the Pacific.
