Look Sports Media – Riot Games is preparing to unleash a significant rework on Mel, a champion notorious for her frustrating gameplay, in the upcoming League of Legends patch. The changes, currently available on the PBE (Public Beta Environment) with Patch 26.2, are slated to go live with Patch 26.3 on February 4th, aiming to make the champion less infuriating to face.
Myles "Emizery" Salholm, Mel’s champion designer at Riot, has detailed the intended changes, emphasizing a desire to introduce more counterplay opportunities against her. "Frankly, we underestimated how frustrating the play-against experience for Mel would be and are aiming to improve that with this change list," Emizery admitted.

Key changes include improved visual clarity for her Q and E abilities, making them easier to dodge. More significantly, her W, Rebuttal, will no longer grant damage immunity. Instead, it will provide a shield and destroy certain AoE projectiles, such as Samira’s ultimate, that hit multiple targets in an area.

According to Emizery, the rework is designed to increase the skill expression for both Mel players and their opponents. "Our goals with these changes are that more players feel they can outplay Mel in ways that match their expectations, and that Mel players can feel more skillful and that their success is a result of that skill," he explained. He also anticipates that the changes will lower Mel’s ban rate without fundamentally altering her core playstyle.
These changes are set to arrive before the highly anticipated Visual and Gameplay Update (VGU) for Shyvana.
