Look Sports Media – Astralis has sent shockwaves through the Counter-Strike 2 professional scene with a dramatic roster change. Following their failure to qualify for the Austin Major, the Danish organization has benched in-game leader (IGL) Casper "cadiaN" Møller and brought back seasoned veteran Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen. This marks a significant shift in Astralis’ strategy, replacing one experienced Danish IGL with another. The move comes after almost a year of inactivity for HooXi, who was benched by G2 Esports in July 2023.
The changes don’t stop there. Astralis also announced the departure of Sports Director Kasper Straube. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Astralis CEO Jakob Hansen attributed these decisions to "lackluster results, culminating in the missed Major Qualification." He expressed gratitude for both Straube’s dedication and cadiaN’s professionalism, acknowledging that the team ultimately fell short of expectations.

cadiaN, who joined Astralis from Team Liquid in September, couldn’t replicate the success he achieved with Heroic, where he won IEM Rio Major 2022 and BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2023. Conversely, HooXi boasts an impressive track record, having secured victories at BLAST Premier World Final 2022 and IEM Cologne and Katowice 2023 with G2. His former G2 teammate, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov, recently transferred to Team Falcons, and spoke highly of HooXi’s work ethic on the All About Counter-Strike podcast, praising his dedication and preparation.
