Look Sports Media – Electronic Arts (EA) is officially diving headfirst into the Battlefield REDSEC esports scene, announcing the launch of a comprehensive circuit featuring the "Elite Series" and "Open Series." This ambitious initiative, fueled by a prize pool exceeding $1 million USD, aims to cultivate a thriving competitive ecosystem across three major regions.
Following promising initial tournaments, EA is formalizing its commitment to REDSEC esports with a two-tiered structure designed to cater to both established professionals and aspiring newcomers. The Elite Series and Open Series will span the Americas, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), and APAC (Asia-Pacific) regions, offering diverse opportunities for players to showcase their skills.

The Americas region boasts a substantial $50,000 USD prize pool for each of the three initial match days, culminating in a $500,000 USD Finals Gauntlet. EMEA and APAC regions will feature $20,000 USD prize pools for initial match days, followed by $285,000 USD for their respective Finals Gauntlets.

The Elite Series will feature 50 hand-picked team captains per region, tasked with assembling four-person squads. This ensures the involvement of prominent FPS professionals from the outset. Teams will battle it out in six REDSEC Battle Royale matches each week, with the top eight advancing to a Gauntlet showdown. The top 25 squads, based on Elite Series Points, will qualify for the Regional Season Final. The Gauntlet game mode will also receive a "competitive version" with specific map and mode combinations, along with extended round timers.
The Open Series provides a pathway for aspiring players to climb the ranks. Players can register and form their squads on Repeat.gg, with a dedicated Open Series section launching in the Repeat.gg app in December. Scoring will be based on the cumulative ten best Battle Royale and ten best Gauntlet matches played across three match days. The top 250 squads from each region will compete in the Open Series Finals in January 2026. The top eight teams from these Finals will then earn a coveted spot in the next season’s Elite Series.
The Elite Series Season 1 schedule is as follows: [Schedule details as provided in the original article]. The Open Series schedule is spread over two months: [Schedule details as provided in the original article].
All matches, including the Season Finals, will be held online. Each Elite Series match day will be streamed by the competitors themselves, while Battlefield Studios will host a broadcast for each regional Season Final.
EA’s approach to REDSEC esports mirrors its earlier strategy with Apex Legends, leveraging the existing FPS community to build momentum for a professional scene. The success of the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) serves as a blueprint for EA’s ambitions with REDSEC. Furthermore, EA has confirmed that REDSEC esports will be cross-platform and cross-input, similar to Apex Legends, potentially sparking similar debates within the competitive community.
Whether REDSEC esports can establish itself as a permanent fixture remains to be seen. However, with a well-structured ecosystem and a significant investment, EA is laying the foundation for a potentially thriving competitive scene.
