Look Sports Media – Team Nemesis, a UK-based esports organization, has achieved the seemingly impossible: qualifying for The International 14, Dota 2’s prestigious world championship. Their all-Filipino Dota 2 roster secured their spot after a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Talon Esports, making them the first Southeast Asian team to qualify for this year’s event and the first Filipino team to achieve this feat since 2019. This remarkable achievement is even more impressive considering Team Nemesis’s incredibly short lifespan – a mere five months.
Born from the ashes of the defunct Into The Breach (ITB) organization, Team Nemesis rapidly assembled a formidable Dota 2 squad. The team inherited talent from ITB, including The International 2017 champion Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov and respected British analyst Robson "TeaGuvnor" Merritt as coach. The rapid turnaround is particularly noteworthy given ITB’s abrupt closure following its CEO’s misuse of company funds.

This Dota 2 triumph isn’t Team Nemesis’s only recent victory. Just 24 hours prior, their Apex Legends roster secured a spot in the Esports World Cup after a strong third-place finish in the EMEA Global Series Split 1 Pro League.

I’m going to TI with my own team!…The first Filipino team at TI since 2019 – and three of our players have never been to TI before! This is just the beginning."
Co-founder and CEO Chris "Momo" Evans echoed Lubczyk’s sentiments, stating, "Dota has been a lifelong passion…Now, I’ve been lucky enough to surround myself with an incredible group of people at Team Nemesis, and we’re going to TI. That alone is a dream come true – but the fact we’re going there to compete makes it even sweeter."
Team Nemesis’s incredible journey from the wreckage of a scandal-ridden organization to a contender on Dota 2’s biggest stage is a testament to the resilience, skill, and dedication of its players and staff. Their story is a powerful reminder that even in the face of adversity, the pursuit of passion and a clear vision can lead to extraordinary success.
