LoL MSI: Chicken Frenzy! 2,430 Pieces Awarded Thanks to CFO’s Epic Run

Look Sports Media – The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) concluded with a surprising twist: a chicken-fueled celebration thanks to the heroic performance of CTC Flying Oyster (CFO). A pre-tournament agreement between the League of Legends Taiwan Facebook page and fans promised a fried chicken feast based on CFO’s success. The deal? Ten cutlets per kill, 100 per game win. Riot Games likely didn’t anticipate CFO’s stunning run, resulting in a massive 2,430-piece chicken giveaway.

CFO, the top seed from the APAC LCP (featuring teams from Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong, and Australia), fought valiantly, ultimately bowing out against China’s LPL champions, Anyone’s Legend. Their single game victory and impressive 46 kills in the final series added another 560 pieces of chicken to the already substantial total.

ADC Chiu "Doggo" Tzu-Chuan led the charge, racking up 71 kills (710 cutlets!), the second-highest kill count of the tournament so far, just one kill shy of the leader. Teammate Tsai "HongQ" Ming-Hong wasn’t far behind, contributing 58 kills and 580 chicken pieces to the feast. Riot Games has promised a separate announcement detailing the distribution of this avian bounty to eager fans.

CFO’s MSI performance was nothing short of legendary. As the only regional champions to participate in First Stand earlier this year, they exceeded all expectations. Their incredible run included pushing reigning World Champions T1 to a full five-game series and a decisive 3-1 victory over LEC champions Movistar KOI—the first international best-of-five win for an APAC team in 13 years, a feat last accomplished by Taipei Assassins in their historic 2012 Worlds victory. This loss marked a potential new low for LEC teams at MSI 2024, especially memorable for Shen "Driver" Tsung-Hua’s Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure-inspired dance after eliminating Joseph Joon "Jojopyun" Pyu.

The team’s name itself is a clever bilingual pun. "Flying Oyster" in Mandarin (飛 му lì) sounds remarkably similar to "family" in English, a fitting tribute to CTBC (Chinatrust Commercial Bank Co.), the team’s owner, whose slogan is "We are Family." So, while the chicken giveaway might seem ironic for a team named "Flying Oyster," it perfectly encapsulates the family-like spirit and unexpected triumph of CFO at MSI.
