This follows a tentative agreement reached between SAG-AFTRA and major game companies like Electronic Arts, Epic Games, and Activision. The resolution means a return to work for voice actors, and the much-anticipated addition of custom English voice lines to several League of Legends skins previously affected by the work stoppage.
The strike, initiated in July 2024, stemmed from concerns over job security and the rise of AI in game development. A key point of contention involved Formosa Interactive, a sound company working on titles like League of Legends, Apex Legends, and The Last of Us. SAG-AFTRA alleged Formosa attempted to circumvent the strike, prompting Riot Games to clarify that their League of Legends project only ever requested unionized performers.
In response to the strike, Riot Games temporarily altered their release strategy for new skins, opting to utilize base voiceovers for English versions instead of recording new lines. This impacted both the PC and mobile versions of the game. However, Riot pledged to add the missing custom voice lines once the strike concluded.

Now, with the strike over, those promised voice lines are finally on their way. According to content creator SkinSpotlights, at least six skins are awaiting their English voice work: Ashe, Irelia, Kai’Sa, Karma, Morgana, and Xayah. This includes several high-profile skins, such as the Spirit Blossom line (Ashe, Irelia, Karma, and Morgana) and the Uzi-themed Risen Legend and Immortalized Legend Kai’Sa skins. Players who purchased these skins can now look forward to hearing their full, intended voice acting.
