Look Sports Media – The Pokémon TCG Pocket universe is about to explode with power! The highly anticipated "Mega Rising" expansion has been officially revealed, introducing the game-changing Mega Evolution card type for the very first time. Prepare for a seismic shift in strategy and gameplay, as these behemoths enter the fray.
This new card type is a force to be reckoned with. Knocking out one of these titans grants a staggering three prize cards, guaranteeing an instant victory. This addition feels timely, especially considering the recent release of Pokémon Legends Z-A, although the expansion’s card list doesn’t include any of the new Pokémon.

"Mega Rising" is set to launch on October 30th, promising a much-needed boost after the disappointment of the "Pokémon Pocket Deluxe EX" packs. Here’s a breakdown of the events, new cards, and cosmetic items revealed so far.

Mirroring the "Genetix Apex" expansion, "Mega Rising" will feature three booster packs. To celebrate Pokémon Pocket’s first anniversary, players will receive one of each pack for free. The anniversary event will also include missions to unlock exclusive cosmetics, new solo battles, and "Wonderpicks" that allow players to earn previously released promo cards.
The official trailer showcased a plethora of new cards, including the previously confirmed Mega Evolutions of Blaziken, Gyarados, and Altaria. For the first time, we got a glimpse of the cards that evolve into these powerhouses, such as a Swablu with the "Sing" ability and a Combusken boasting a 50-damage, two-energy attack. The new Magikarp has a three-energy attack that searches your deck for a Gyarados and evolves immediately. DeNA has revealed even more Mega Evolution cards, which will redefine the game’s meta.
Mega Pinsir, a 170 HP Basic Pokémon, has a three-energy attack that deals 80 damage, plus an additional 70 if you flip heads (150 total). Mega Ampharos, a Stage 2 evolution with 210 HP, has a three-energy attack that deals 100 damage and 20 damage to a random Pokémon on your opponent’s bench three times. Mega Absol, a 170 HP Basic Pokémon, deals 80 damage for only two energy, reveals the opponent’s hand, and allows you to discard a Supporter card of your choice. Basic cards for Jirachi, Pidgey, Furfou, Pancham, Growlithe, and Goomy have also been revealed.
Goomy is particularly interesting, requiring both Water and Psychic energy and increasing the energy requirements of your opponent’s Pokémon. Several powerful non-EX or Mega cards have also been revealed. Hydreigon has the ability to add two energy to itself at the cost of 30 damage, building up to its 130-damage, three-energy attack that discards all its energy. Lilligant’s ability heals all your Grass Pokémon by 20 HP, while Aegislash increases the damage of your Metal and Psychic Pokémon. Jellicent adds a Water energy to a Benched Pokémon whenever it takes damage in the Active Spot. This will be particularly interesting when combined with the new Marlon Trainer card.
Three new Trainer cards were revealed in the "Pokémon Pocket Mega Evolutions" trailer. Marlon heals 70 damage from one of your Jellicent or Carracosta (currently unrevealed). May puts two random Pokémon cards from your deck into your hand, then you discard a Pokémon from your hand for each one you keep. Lisia puts two random Basic Pokémon with 50 HP or less into your hand from your deck.
The new Sitrus Berry Tool heals a Pokémon for 30 HP if they drop below half health before the Tool discards itself. The Flame Patch Item card adds a discarded Fire energy to your Active Fire Pokémon. This will make Mega Blaziken even more formidable, as it has a two-energy 120 attack that burns but also discards one energy.
