Look Sports Media – The Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) has solidified its position as Europe’s most-watched League of Legends regional league, boasting a staggering 3 million hours watched according to data from Esports Charts. This impressive figure surpasses even the highly competitive French LFL, which clocked in at 2.73 million hours. The NLC’s dominance isn’t entirely unexpected, given the popularity of its teams and the significant contribution of co-streamers.
A major factor in the NLC’s viewership surge is the meteoric rise of Los Ratones, a team spearheaded by UK streaming superstar Marc "Caedrel" Lamont. Boasting a roster packed with popular professional players like Martin "Rekkles" Larsson, Tim "Nemesis" Lipovšek, and Juš "Crownie" Marušič, Los Ratones’ back-to-back NLC championship wins at Leagues Disrupt last week further cemented their, and the league’s, popularity. Their success mirrors the impact of Karmine Corp in the LFL, a team built around the charismatic streamer Kamel "Kameto" Kebir, showcasing the power of streamer-driven teams in boosting viewership.

However, the real surprise comes from Turkey’s TCL, which has experienced remarkable growth, jumping from 496,000 hours watched in Summer 2024 to 1.36 million hours this Spring. This significant increase is largely attributed to the move of popular streamers and casters Ferit "wtcn" Karakaya and Ahmet "Jahrein" Sonuç to Kick, demonstrating the impact of platform shifts on viewership. The TCL even briefly outperformed the LFL in peak viewership, reaching over 95,000 concurrent viewers compared to the LFL’s 88,000.

Despite the TCL’s impressive growth, neither league could match the NLC’s peak viewership of over 223,000. Even more astounding, these numbers fall short of the NLC’s Winter split, which drew an incredible audience of over 360,000 viewers in March—surpassing even the viewership of North America’s LCS and China’s LPL in some instances. This unexpected dominance highlights the NLC’s growing influence within the global League of Legends scene and underscores the power of community-driven initiatives and strategic streamer collaborations.
