Look Sports Media – Overwatch 2’s development team has consistently pushed boundaries, introducing 6v6 modes, Perks, and the groundbreaking Stadium game mode. But according to Game Director Aaron Keller, in a recent interview with Twitch streamer Emongg, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Keller promises a 2026 that will be "bonkers" for Overwatch 2, hinting at changes even more significant than Stadium.
Keller revealed a shift in Blizzard’s development philosophy, stating, "I think we’ve really taken to heart some of the feedback from our players and we would like to be doing bigger, more monumental things in the game and just not be as conservative or as careful as we were in the past." This philosophy shift is already evident in the controversial (yet ultimately impactful) introduction of hero bans and the massive scale of the Stadium mode, which introduces a new layer of strategic depth through in-game currency and power upgrades.

However, Keller assures fans that Blizzard’s ambition far surpasses even Stadium’s innovation. He emphasized, "With things like Stadium and Perks, these are big things for the game, but that’s not the end of our ambition… I think there’s going to be a lot to look forward to… Next year is going to be bonkers."
