Look Sports Media – The Pokémon TCG Pocket is set to receive a massive update with the upcoming Mega Evolutions expansion, addressing long-standing player concerns and introducing exciting new features. After a year on the market, developers DeNa are implementing changes that fans have been eagerly anticipating, as revealed through official announcements and recent leaks.
One of the most significant changes is a complete overhaul of the trading system. A new "gifting" feature will allow players to send cards up to four-diamond rarity (EX Pokémon) to friends, completely free of charge. Each player can receive only one gift per day, making these acts of generosity all the more special.

Trading restrictions are also being loosened considerably. Players will now be able to trade cards up to two-star rarity, including rainbow rares, full-art trainers, and even shiny cards. The only exceptions are immersive cards (three-star), crown rares, and promo cards. However, trading these higher-rarity cards will come at a cost, with EX shinies costing 30,000 Shinedust and two-star cards costing 25,000.

Perhaps the most welcome change is how shiny cards are handled. Previously, finding a shiny card in a pack was often a frustrating experience, as it replaced a potentially rare card from the current expansion with an older, often redundant card. Now, shiny cards will have a rare (6.8%) chance to appear as an additional sixth card in a pack, similar to baby cards. This makes them a fun bonus without detracting from the excitement of pulling new cards.
Finally, the mysterious "Advance Tickets" that players received upon the game’s release will finally have a purpose. DeNa has announced that these tickets will be used for a lottery, with prizes ranging from 24 to 1,200 pack hourglasses (enough for 1,000 packs) distributed among the player base. The draw will be held on October 30th at 6am GMT.
In addition to the lottery, new ticket types are being introduced as a currency earned through gameplay. Players will earn grey tickets for every 10 battles and green or pink tickets for every five Wonder Picks. These tickets can be used in a new shop to purchase old promo cards from previous events.
Other quality-of-life improvements include the ability to favorite packs on the home screen, an increase in deck slots from 20 to 25, and a level cap increase from 50 to 60. While some highly requested features are still a ways off (summer 2026), these changes represent a significant step forward for Pokémon TCG Pocket.
