Look Sports Media – DeNa’s announcement of an upcoming update for Pokémon TCG Pocket has been met with a mix of excitement and disbelief, as players learn they’ll have to wait until Summer 2026 for a highly requested feature. The update aims to rectify issues with the Pokémon Pocket Deluxe Pack Ex expansion, which many considered a "rip-off" due to its failure to properly register cards for previous expansions’ Dex challenges.
The core of the update addresses the registration of cards appearing in multiple packs, ensuring they now count towards all corresponding Pokédexes. This change will also retroactively add previously obtained cards into every applicable Dex, resolving a major point of frustration for players.

However, the announcement has been overshadowed by the lengthy wait time. The update, slated for Summer 2026, has sparked outrage within the community, with many questioning the development timeline. One Twitter user, @vicwingly, voiced concerns, stating, "if it’s going to take pocket 9+ months to implement such a simple change, i think all of our other requests (more game modes, dark mode, universal pack points, etc) are never going to feasibly happen. summer 2026??? are you serious? at this rate the game will be dead by then."

Players have also expressed frustration over other long-standing issues, such as slow animations, the inability to open multiple promo packs at once, and the absence of a dark mode. DeNa has stated that UI improvements will accompany the Dex registration update, but the extended timeline remains a major point of contention.
The community’s frustration is palpable, with one Twitter user exclaiming, "Completely unacceptable timeline. You are not a small indie dev. This should be a hot fix implemented after a week of feedback. You still don’t have a dark mode ONE YEAR INTO THE GAME. Unacceptable. There is no excuse." Another added, "2026 for this kind of feature? What are you guys planning until then? The lame ass boring wonder pick and sneak peak events????"
Reports indicate that Pokémon Pocket’s monthly revenue has recently experienced a significant drop of around 50%, reflecting the growing dissatisfaction among the player base.
Adding to the mix, the upcoming Mega Rising expansion is set to launch on October 30th, introducing three unique packs featuring new Mega Evolution Pokémon. The revealed cards showcase powerful Mega cards that have the potential to reshape the game’s meta. Trainer cards like May and Lisia have also been unveiled, offering increased card draw and strategic options.
