Look Sports Media – Counter-Strike 2 legend Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev’s resurgence with FaZe Clan at the Blast Austin Major 2025 is captivating the CS2 scene. Many consider him the GOAT, and his recent performance has solidified that claim. After a year-long hiatus dedicated to "fixing documents and taking care of other people in my life," s1mple’s return is nothing short of spectacular. Currently, FaZe is a quarterfinalist, and betting sites place them as strong contenders, second only to Team Vitality, for the Major title.
In a revealing conversation with retired pro Mikhail "Dosia" Stolyarov, s1mple credits a significant lifestyle overhaul for his comeback. He revealed that his journey to self-improvement began even before FaZe approached him. "Basically, I had bros in Poland, they’re working out a lot. They told me, ‘You have to go to the gym.’ So we all went together," he explained. The offer from FaZe’s Rain arrived shortly after he’d already embarked on this path, quitting alcohol and embracing a fitness regime. "I had already started to change my life. I did my first steps, cancelled drinking alcohol and all the other stuff, I started going to the gym and somehow this happens, when I started taking care of my life," he stated.

A previous loan stint with Team Falcons last year didn’t yield the desired results, as they failed to qualify for the Shanghai Major. However, this time, s1mple’s preparation proved crucial. "We started practicing and played like nine days in a row. I told the team from the very beginning, as soon as we have the bootcamp, I will play better," he said. He attributes his improved performance to the bootcamp’s focused training and the team’s cohesive gameplay. "Once the bootcamp started, I felt how I started to play better. But in Stage 1, I was nervous so I couldn’t perform at 100%. But it also matters how the team plays, when I feel how the team is communicating and does the right rotations, it is much easier for me to play."
