Unicorns of Love: Own a Piece of the Legacy?

Look Sports Media – German esports powerhouse Unicorns of Love (UoL), a name synonymous with audacious plays and a passionate fanbase in the League of Legends scene, has unveiled an unprecedented move: offering fans an 11% stake in the organization through a groundbreaking crowdfunding initiative. This marks the first time the family-run outfit, established in 2014, has opened its ownership to the public, inviting its dedicated community to become genuine shareholders in its future.

The campaign, hosted on the Crowdcube platform, is currently accepting early registrations, signaling a bold new chapter for the organization. UoL, which has cultivated a distinctive identity over its eleven-year journey, shared its vision on social media, reflecting on "11 years of players, teams, wild drafts, big stages, unforgettable moments – and above all, community." The announcement underscored a desire to build something "bigger than ever" by involving those who have supported them from the beginning.

UoL’s journey has been one of persistent ambition and near-triumphs. Despite their storied history in the former EU LCS, the organization was not granted a franchised slot by Riot Games for the LEC. Their aspirations for a return to Europe’s top-tier competition were reignited recently when their Prime League affiliate, Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition, made a valiant run in the EMEA Masters Summer Semifinals. After qualifying through the Last Chance Qualifier, they ultimately fell 3-0 to Los Heretics, narrowly missing a spot in the upcoming LEC Versus event for 2026, which was secured by Karmine Corp Blue and Los Ratones.

In their official statement, UoL articulated the significance of this crowdfunding venture: "For the first time, we’re opening up to the community and offering up to 11% of the company to those who helped build this journey. We want you to own a real stake in our future." The organization emphasized that their recent competitive showing, despite falling short of an LEC return, has only intensified their drive. "After our latest EMEA Masters run and near-visit to the LEC, our ambition has never been higher. The next level is calling – and we want you on the roster."

A Decade of Wild Drafts and Iconic Rosters

The Unicorns of Love narrative began with a dream. Founded by the father of Fabian ‘Sheepy’ Mallant to enable his son to compete in League of Legends with friends, Sheepy himself would eventually transition to the coaching role, a position he maintains to this day. UoL quickly ascended, earning promotion to the EU LCS and making their debut in the premier league in 2015.

Their inaugural EU LCS roster remains legendary among long-time fans, featuring future stars who would leave an indelible mark on the scene. Names like Tristan ‘PowerOfEvil’ Schrage, Zdravets ‘Hylissang’ Galabov, and Tamás ‘Vizicsacsi’ Kiss were all part of that memorable lineup. Hylissang, a stalwart of European League of Legends, recently found himself without a team for the first time in years following Team Vitality’s LEC roster announcement.

Throughout their time in the EU LCS, Unicorns of Love consistently challenged the top, securing runner-up finishes in both the Spring 2015 and Spring 2017 splits. Following their unsuccessful bid for an LEC partnership, UoL diversified its competitive focus, achieving considerable success in Russia’s LCL and Germany’s Prime League. Their dominance in the LCL saw them crowned champions multiple times, leading to appearances at the League of Legends World Championship in 2020 and 2021, where they notably reached the Group Stages in 2020.

This crowdfunding campaign represents more than just a financial endeavor; it’s a testament to UoL’s enduring spirit and a direct invitation to their community to help shape the next chapter of their unique story in esports.
