Look Sports Media – Virtus.pro, the storied esports organization, is making a bold return to StarCraft II, signing legendary pro Kim "Classic" DoWoo in a high-stakes bid for glory at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025. This move comes just months before the EWC’s kickoff, boasting a record-breaking $70 million prize pool—a staggering $27 million of which is earmarked for the Club Championship alone.
Last year’s EWC saw Virtus.pro struggle, achieving only modest results in Counter-Strike 2 and Overwatch 2. Their StarCraft II campaign, featuring Maxwell "Astrea" Angel, ended in a first-round knockout. This time, however, the organization is banking on Classic, a top-20 all-time StarCraft II earner with over $578,860 in prize money, and victories at prestigious tournaments like the 2014 Global StarCraft II League Season 2: Code S and the 2015 StarCraft II StarLeague Season 2 Main Event.

While Classic’s own EWC 2024 run ended in the quarterfinals after representing Twisted Minds, Virtus.pro CEO Nikolai Petrossian remains confident: "A year ago, our StarCraft II revival fell short. Now, with Classic’s proven track record, we expect qualification for the EWC and a strong showing across all major competitions."
