WASD Controls Invade LoL: Is This the End of Clicking?

Look Sports Media – Riot Games unleashes a storm of changes with League of Legends Patch 25.24, marking the final update of 2025. While the community eagerly anticipates the 2026 season’s overhaul, including the introduction of 7th items for ADCs and the removal of Atakhan, Patch 25.24 brings a mix of champion adjustments and the arrival of a potentially game-altering control scheme: WASD movement.

The introduction of WASD controls, allowing players to move their champions with the WASD keys instead of the traditional click-to-move method, has sparked intense debate within the League of Legends community. Some fear that this change will trivialize kiting, a crucial skill for ADCs, by allowing players to focus solely on aiming with their mouse while moving with their other hand.

Patch 25.24 rolls out WASD controls in a beta phase, available in most unranked game modes across all regions, excluding normal draft. The current League of Legends Ranked Season 3 of 2025 will conclude on January 1st, 2026, at 23:59:59 local server time. Ranked queues will be disabled for 12 hours in preparation for the start of Season 1, 2026, which kicks off on January 8th, resetting LP and ranks for the new year.

Champion Adjustments:

• Buffs: Braum receives early-game durability and damage increases, Nasus gains lane sustain and easier Q stacking, Sejuani sees cooldown reductions and AP ratio buffs, Swain’s passive healing is amplified, and Viktor’s Q shield is strengthened.
• Nerfs: Dr. Mundo’s jungle clear is toned down, Kayn’s Shadow Assassin damage is reduced, Kha’Zix’s jungle clear is slowed, Master Yi’s durability and damage are decreased, Mel’s frustrating gameplay is addressed with E nerfs, Zaahen’s damage is reduced, and Zed’s jungle clear speed is nerfed.

Rune Adjustments:

• Buffs: Bloodline’s life steal per stack is increased.

Arena Adjustments:

• Several champion and item adjustments are made to balance the Arena game mode.

ARAM Mayhem Updates:

• New Prismatic Augments from Arena are added to ARAM Mayhem, with some limited to one player per game.
• Ultimate Awakening is reworked, and two new items from Arena are added.
