Look Sports Media – Riot Games has officially unveiled the format and schedule for the highly anticipated League of Legends World Championship 2025, set to ignite the competitive scene in China. The tournament will showcase elite teams from the LEC, LTA, LCK, LPL, and LCP regions, all vying for the coveted Summoner’s Cup.
With the Summer Split now concluded, the qualified teams and their respective seeds have been finalized, paving the way for an electrifying competition. This year marks a significant milestone as Worlds 2025 will be the first-ever iteration to feature the innovative Fearless Draft system.

The journey to the main event begins with the Play-In Stage, but with a twist. Unlike previous years, the Play-Ins will consist of a single, high-stakes best-of-five series. This showdown pits the fourth seeds from Korea’s LCK and China’s LPL against each other. This year, it’s a clash of titans as LPL’s Invictus Gaming faces off against the reigning World Champions, T1, with the winner securing a spot in the Swiss Stage.

The Swiss Stage will see 16 teams battling it out across five intense rounds. Securing three victories grants a team passage to the Knockouts, while suffering three defeats results in elimination. The first round will be seeded with a new strategic element. The victor of the Play-In Stage will elevate their region’s third seed into Tier 2, creating a dynamic distribution of teams across three tiers:
- Tier 1: 1st Seeds from LCK, LPL, LEC, LCS
- Tier 2: 2nd Seeds from LCK, LPL, LEC, LCS + Play-In Winner’s Region’s 3rd Seed
- Tier 3: Remaining Teams
In the opening round, Tier 1 teams will clash with Tier 3 teams, while Tier 2 teams will engage in direct competition. Despite the implementation of Fearless Draft, the Swiss Stage matches will be best-of-one encounters, with teams consistently facing opponents with matching records. However, qualification and elimination matches will escalate to best-of-three series.
The final eight teams will then proceed to a single-elimination bracket, engaging in best-of-five matches until a champion emerges. The Knockouts draw will strategically position the two teams with 3-0 records on opposite sides of the bracket, facing teams with 3-2 records. The remaining slots will be filled randomly, adding an element of unpredictability.
